Hi! I’m so happy you
found my page. I am a 40 year old
woman, wife, mother of three, and passionately devoted beautifier of my
surroundings. I can’t help
it! I strongly believe that life
is meant to be fun, beautiful, inspiring, and magical. My passion for taking ordinary items
and making them extraordinary began when I was just a little girl, and I would
find designs in the grains of a piece of wood, or a puddle, or a cloud, or a
tree. That (and a few choice words
from my Grandma Carol) led me to spending years as a makeup artist in the film
industry. Very fun! And when I walked away from all of that
to become a mom, those same impulses to highlight and transform and embellish
the natural beauty I see around me everywhere turned inward to my own home: to
my yard, my walls, and eventually
my furniture.
Several years ago, a neighbor gave me two chairs she found on the
side of the road. I loved
them, but they were in horrible shape.
The fabric was mildewy. The
frames were damaged. And yet, I had
to have them! Though I didn’t
realize it at that time, re-doing those two chairs that were bound for the
landfill was the beginning of Peace Love and Lemonade. My mission is, just as the old adage
says, to turn lemons into lemonade.
I rescue old, discarded, neglected treasures bound for (and often
already in) the garbage, and I give them a makeover and a new beautiful
purpose. And I love it!
Having now salvaged and redone chairs, couches, dining room
tables, end tables, stools, ottomans, and anything else I can get my hands on
(don’t you just love the “free” section of CraigsList?), I recently returned to
school to learn how to do all of the re-upholstery myself. With a garage full of other people’s
“garbage” and a new emerging skill set, I am starting this blog to chronicle
the ups and downs of dumpster-diving for furniture, the surprises (both good
and bad) discovered when tearing things back to their bones, the joys of
finishing a project and knowing that I’ve simultaneously created something beautiful
and kept one more item out of our landfills. Hopefully you will enjoy the process too.
With no room left in my own home, I am excited to be selling my
pieces on Etsy. As soon as each is
finished, I will post it on my Etsy sight, which you can always link to from
here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/peacelovelemonade. My blog will chronicle the story of
each piece, the good, the bad and dare I say it, the ugly! So please read it, and enjoy it, and
contact me anytime to ask me any questions at all. In the meantime, like we always say at Peace Love and
Lemonade: Live Happy!
BIG LOVE,
Lenny
